A shared framework for fair conversations
AI-transparency workflows for families, teachers, and schools
Families, teachers, and school leaders need the same thing from an AI conversation: enough context to understand what happened without collecting more student information than necessary.
For students and families
Begin with the learner’s account. Record the assignment, describe the assistance, keep relevant evidence, and choose the audience. Families can use the record to support reflection and help a student prepare for a conversation with a teacher.
For teachers
Invite process documentation as part of normal classroom practice. Explain what students should record, allow them to describe uncertainty, and use the record as one input to a conversation—not as an automated conclusion about the work.
- State the assignment’s AI expectations clearly
- Ask students to explain choices and learning
- Limit access to the people who need it
- Keep the student’s evidence separate from unrelated records
For school and district leaders
Define a consistent, reviewable process for documentation, access, retention, and deletion. Train adults to distinguish evidence from inference and make sure any academic or disciplinary decision follows local policy and human review.
A workflow with clear boundaries
COSMIQ’s transparency record is designed for context and conversation. It does not generate an AI percentage, authorship verdict, plagiarism finding, misconduct recommendation, or intent determination. It is private by default and explicitly shareable, revocable, exportable, and deletable.

Common questions
Can a school require access to every student transparency record?
A responsible workflow should define a limited purpose and audience. COSMIQ records are private by default, and sharing is explicit rather than automatic. Schools should apply their own policies and legal obligations.
What should adults do with a transparency record?
Use it to understand the student’s process and support a human conversation. It should not be treated as an automated finding or a substitute for applicable school policy.
