Frequently asked questions
What is the PSAT Selection Index?
The Selection Index is twice the sum of your three test scores (Reading + Writing + Math), giving a number from 48 to 228. It is what National Merit uses to set qualifying cutoffs.
How does the PSAT total relate to the SAT?
The PSAT is scored 320–1520 and the SAT 400–1600. The PSAT is designed to be on the same scale, so a PSAT section score predicts a similar SAT section score.
